Yan Tan #3

The Beijing National Stadium also known as the Bird's Nest served the 2008 Summer Olympics. I was in Beijing the summer before the Olympics and got to witness the construction of it. They were close to being done and the structure was mostly made of steel, to support the opening which made it resemble a bird's nest. From a distance away, it didn't look like a stadium or building, but rather a piece of art. The design originated from the study of Chinese ceramics. It has a futuristic feel to it, but also incorporates ancient ideas to complete the building.
