Built in 1929 (the same year as my previous post Westhope), Boston Avenue Methodist Church was designed by Adah Robinson and Bruce Goff. It is one of the most renowned examples of Art Deco architecture in the world. The building always reminded my of ancient Gothic cathedrals in Europe and looked out-of-place in downtown Tulsa. It's soaring, sheer edifice gives the impression that the building is impenetrable and even though I was in awe of the design, I always felt that it gave of an unwelcome feeling. Almost ominous, especially at night.
