This is the original Transamerica building that was built in 1909 by John Fugazi. It originally opened as Popular Italian Bank, was sold to Bank of America in 1928 and acquired by The Church Of Scientology in 2009. While strolling down the street one day my husband and I were approached by this very nice young man who offered a tour, however my husband, even though was curious about the architecture, declined to go into the Tom Cruise church. The view from outside was breath taking though.
