When I was younger my family took us to the Gateway Arch, constructed in February 1963 in St. Louis. The architects were Eero Saarinen, Hannskarl Bandel. It doesn't look very thick but when you get up close to it you realize just how large a round the structure is. We took the elevator (or tram, it was a while ago) as far to the top as it allowed and then climbed stairs to the very tip top where you could look out these windows at the top of the arch. It really was a sight to behold and I hope to take my kids there someday when I have a family.
