St. Marks Basilica had an impact on me because Venice was the first city I visited while being stationed in Vicenza, Italy. I felt very lucky to be able to see buildings like this because a lot of Americans never get the chance. The church has been there since the ninth century but was burned down and a newer church built after. The present church was built in the eleventh century.
