Pike Place
Market is a public farmer’s market located in Seattle, WA. Necessitated out of
the demand to supply a booming population following gold rushes in the early 20th
century, the market continues to serve as the premier downtown commercial hub.
The original structure was built by developer Frank Goodwin, but the market
has undergone multiple additions in subsequent years.
I visited Seattle
in 2002 and again in 2008, and was surprised at how much residents there
appreciate fresh produce. In fact, I don't think Wal-Marts even exist in Seattle. Pike Place Market is not your typical shopping center. It’s bustling
and exciting, and a must see while in Seattle. Also, the original Starbucks is
located across the street.
