This is Westbury house. Built by John S. Phipps for his wife as a wedding gift was completed in 1907. This house is a true representation of life for the upper class of the Guilded Age. This house reminds me of an English country manor, but its built right on New York's Long Island. Phipps' bride was an English socialite so it was only fitting that an English architect design the couples new home so that his wife would not feel so homesick. This house harkens back to the days of old money wealth and splendor that one recalls when reading the Great Gatsby or other books about that period. I would love to be able to go inside this masterpiece one day.
