The Sheraton by Brent Wilkins (Blog Eight)

The Sheraton is an apartment building located in the historic Highland Park neighborhood of Birmingham, AL. The building was designed by the Holdo-Weaver Company, and opened in 1951. It features ten floors of apartments and a penthouse on the eleventh floor that was originally occupied by one of the architects (it pays to be an architect). Here you will find an eclectic community of residents ranging anywhere from college students to empty nesters.

This was the location of my first apartment, which I lived in from the age of 18 through 20. Some of my fondest memories took place in this building, and this is where I learned many of life’s lessons. The bottom picture is a view from the building looking out over the neighborhood and downtown skyline.
