Post 10. Justin Walton. Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The worst part of this piece of architecture is the reason it has drew so much of my attention; the fact that I have not been able to view the inside either in person or with a picture. My father lives in Bakersfield, CA which results in frequent visits to Los Angeles. When traveling from LA to Bakersfield, the route in which we take leads us to the north side of LA where we then head east on Santa Monica Boulevard to get on Highway 405 and travel north toward Bakersfield. When heading east on Santa Monica is when you can catch a glimpse of this enormous Mormon temple with an eye catching statue atop of it. The temple is at the top of a man-made hill which increases it's privacy and draws curiosity. The exterior is 146,000 square feet, covered Mo-Sai stone, crushed quartz and white Portland Cement. It is 257 foot in high with a total floor area of 190,640 square feet. The entire site is 13 acres. This is a temple that can't be missed but one that I have not had a chance to truly appreciate.
