Week 9- Sacre-Coeur Basilique de Paris by Cooper Tate

The beautiful Sacre-Coeur Basilica is perched atop Montmarte in Paris, France. It was completed in 1914 and consecrated 1919. Built of travertine and constantly exudes calcite which causes it to remain white instead of weathering and graying like buildings you would find in Paris proper. The interior of the church is absolutely incredible and the detailed mosaics on the walls and ceilings are stunning. I highly recommend making the trip up the hill to the basilica. It offers amazing views of Paris.
