The picture of the cabin above is of my Grandma and Grandpa's cabin in the Colorado rockies. The cabin is approximately 2 hours west of Colorado Springs, close to the St. Monte Cristo mountain range. The cabin is approximately 10,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by pine trees and aspens. There is a great deal of hiking around the cabin and a lake on the other side of a hill. Overall, I took several trips there as I was growing up and spending time with my family building fires, playing games, and talking. Small humble structures like this give us an opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday city life and really connect with each other and nature in a comfortable atmosphere.
