Minute Maid Park opened in 2000 and is the home of the Major
League baseball Houston Astros. The ballpark is in downtown Houston, Texas and
I have been there multiple times. I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan so I usually
attend the Astros vs. Cardinals games. The stadium implemented a retractable
roof in their stadium that can be opened on nice days and closed when there is
hot or rainy weather. There is a train located in left field that moves
whenever the home team hits a homerun. The glass in the back gives a good view
of the Houston skyline even when the roof is closed. The downtown skyline
located around the building mixed with the classic architecture and glass
windows. The ballpark was built with combining part of the old Union train
station with the ballpark design. The field has a light pole in centerfield The
architect was HOK Sports Facilities
Group and the Construction Manager was Brown & Root Services, a business
unit of Halliburton Company. The stadium is significant to me because I love
baseball.
