Colcord Building by Brent Wilkins (Blog Two)
The Colcord Building is the oldest or second oldest (depending on whether the Telegraph Building is considered tall enough) skyscraper in Oklahoma City. It is one of the few remaining original structures to survive urban renewal movements over the years. It opened as an office building in 1910, and has been operating as an independent boutique hotel since 2006.
I worked for the Colcord Hotel for a while before leaving last year to focus on school. This job was particularly interesting because the hotel serves to Oklahoma City's upper tier, as well as international celebrities. I have met quite a few myself. Many of the guests are regular patrons who appreciate the unique history and architecture of the building, as well at the eclectic atmosphere of the hotel.
