Lauren Gillingham- Art Deco in Tulsa

I proudly call Tulsa home, and one of the coolest things about Tulsa and its culture is it's amount of art deco architecture that is still standing.

Tulsa was still a newly developing city when the unprecedented growth began in the roaring twenties, brought along by the flood of prosperity during the oil boom. This all happened around the same time that the Art Deco really became popular. With oil money burning holes in their pockets, more prominent Tulsans started building Art Deco skyscrapers and other buildings alike.

This building is the Boston Avenue Methodist Church, which can be found in downtown Tulsa. There are so many interesting buildings that exhibit the Art Deco style architecture, so I plan on posting more in the next couple weeks.
