Central Park by Brent Wilkins (Blog Four)

As one of the most recognizable works of landscape architecture, Central Park has served as an urban retreat for New Yorkers since 1857. The park was a work in progress for many years and has had a unique history of declines and rejuvenations. Recreational activities provided by the park include walking/jogging, cycling, swimming, row-boating, carriage riding, bird watching, and theater/concert viewing.

Central Park was one of the places I visited during an eventful trip to New York City in 2001. I was surprised at the level of seclusion you can find in the midst of such an enormous and densely-populated city. I didn’t see the pigeon lady from Home Alone 2, but I did see a lot of her friends.
